Ebbett Automotive will expand its Waikato footprint in September with a new concept store at Hamilton’s The Base shopping centre, representing Geely, Farizon and Zeekr.
The Te Rapa-based dealer group will showcase the three Geely Holding brands in a purpose-built space located between Heathcote Appliances and Mitre 10. It will be the first New Zealand retail site for the marques, which sit alongside global names Volvo, Polestar and Lotus under the Geely umbrella.
Ebbett already represents Volvo and Polestar in the region. Executive director Richard van den Engel said the decision to add the new brands reflected their reputation and product range.
Managing director Walter van den Engel said the expansion built on Ebbett’s long presence in the Waikato. “We are proud to represent these emerging global names in Hamilton. It’s a privilege to continue growing our offering for the community we’ve been a part of for nearly a century,” he said.
The new site, to be branded Ebbett The Base, will handle sales and service support for all three marques.
Initial models confirmed
Sales will begin with the Geely EX5 battery-electric SUV, offering up to 430km WLTP range and 20-minute fast charging from 30–80%. Also arriving is the Geely Riddara RD6, an electric ute that blends SUV-like comfort with traditional load-carrying ability.
Geely’s New Zealand line-up will include hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric SUVs, with plans to expand further.
Farizon, Geely’s commercial arm, will debut locally with the SuperVAN (SV), a fully electric van offering up to 376km WLTP range, targeted at fleet and logistics operators.
Zeekr, the group’s premium electric performance brand, will sit at the other end of the market with technology-focused models aimed at high-end EV buyers.
